1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Report

Teens nowadays are prone to premarital sex.Premarital sex refers to consensual sexual intercourse between unmarried heterosexual human. Premarital sex usually happens when a teen couple gets too emotional and the sexual drive increases. When this happens, they tend to have sex which leads to many problems. Firstly, The birth of illegal babies and illegal babies dumping. Secondly, a noticeable impact is a steep rise in school dropouts among teens. This problem has been occurring when a young couple is not under the supervision of an adult or either the relationship of the couple is set as a secret. This is a global problem and need to be solved as fast as possible. If not, The consequences is very high as these teens are suppose to be the future leaders. We definitely do not want them to be school dropouts or leaders with no moral values. Thus, a research and a survey should be done to gather valuable information regarding this issue in order to come out with an effective solution.

Reference through past research done by others has also shown a drastic increase in this particular problem. Young people now are more open, they are not shy about sex any more – many have multiple partners and they think it is okay – so we have to accept that fact first before we can find ways to deal with the growing phenomenon and its ensuing problems. Some Form One students (13-year-olds) at a secondary school in PJ had a competition to find out who has had the most sexual partners. You know how many partners the winner apparently had? Thirty! And she’s only 13 (James Nayagan, 2010). This itself show the seriousness as well as the rapid growth that the Malaysia society is facing due to the problem of premarital sex.

This article was to investigate cross-cultural university students' premarital sexual standards. The data collected is compromised of four countries which are Canada, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and England. These cultural contexts had a strong effect on the attitudes and behavior of individual respondents. The result of the study was as predicted where the difference in the standards held by males and females was small in highly permissive societies. An unsuccessful effort was made to predict how the correlation between permissiveness and such variables as religiosity would change in different cultures. Students from high status background, greater courtship participation, less religiosity, greater physical attractiveness, and spending less time with one's family were associated with greater permissiveness.
